Hi,
I've had my Fender BXR100 combo for a while now, and it just doesn't offer quite the punch I want. Because I've had the same amp since I started playing 9 years ago, I haven't done a whole lot of research into bass amplification, particularly heads and cabs. I'd like to upgrade to a good head and cab (Hartke, Ampeg or something) without paying too damn much (hence the used gear market) but I was hoping to procure some advice first from more learned folk. What's good? Tubes or solid state? My knowledge is unfortunately pretty limited. I want punch and diversity of tones--doesn't have to be the loudest damn thing on earth, but loud enough. I play a G&L L2000 (dual humbuckers) and a Carvin LB70 (modified with EMG J-pickups). The music we are playing in Kill Bosby ranges from mellow to medium/hard rock. I enjoy slapping and popping. With these things in mind, I'll take any advice you have to offer. Thanks.
Peace,
-Tim
